You must have the Drag Manager Extension installed, or have System 7.5 or later to use Drag-and-Drop as illustrated in this document. This requirement is not necessary for simply dragging and dropping a Settings File onto MacUpdate's icon. This requirement is only necessary if you wish to drag icons directly from the Finder to a Settings File Window.
Drag-and-Drop Sequence
----------------------
First, you have to have a Settings File Window open, so you may need to create one by choosing New from the File menu. Shown below is an empty Settings File Window:
The first thing you have to do is drag an icon from the Finder to the Settings File Window's Staging Area, as shown below. Notice, the Staging Area gets hilited in gray when it is OK to drop the icon you are dragging:
When you drop the icon (i.e., release the mouse button while the cursor is still in the Staging Area of the Settings File Window), you will see the icon as an un-paired Pair Item icon in the Staging Area, as shown below:
Now you're ready to Drag-and-Drop the other Pair Item. Just drag another icon from the Finder to the opposite side of the Staging area, as shown below:
When you drop the icon (i.e., release the mouse button while the cursor is still in the Staging Area of the Settings File Window), you will see that MacUpdate has made the two items you Drag-and-Dropped into a Pair in the Settings File Window, as shown below:
Besides Drag-and-Dropping into the Staging Area, you can Drag-and-Drop onto an existing Pair Item to replace it. Just drag an icon from the Finder over the existing Pair Item. Notice the Pair Item that will be replaced is hilited in gray:
When you release the mouse button (drop the icon), it will replace the Pair Item that was currently there with the one you Drag-and-Dropped.
The examples above showed Drag-and-Dropping to the left side of the Staging Area first, but it is OK to start on the right side if you desire.
Note if you drop in the scrollbar, the center of the window where the Synchronization Direction and Loner Settings icons are, or in the Titling Area of the window, nothing will happen. You can only drop into the Settings File Window when you see the gray hiliting around an existing Pair Item, or around one side of the Staging Area.
